Banner stand

These are the only things you will need for a banner stand, the ruler and snap off knife will be used for cutting the banner stand down to size. The roller will be used later when applying the banner to the banner stand.

After cutting the banner down, you need to then apply it to the banner stand top and base. You do this by putting the banner flush up to the top and making sure there isn't any banner hanging over the edge, then slowly take the tape of and apply it to the top of the banner stand.
Then you need to use a roller to make sure the banner inst going to come of from the strain.

Then you will need to repeat the process by doing it to the bottom of the banner stand.

After doing the top and bottom of the banner stand you will need to retract the banner into the banner stand so that you can stand it up. You do this by pulling the banner tight and taking a pin out, then slowly let the banner slip through you fingers making sure you don't catch it on the side to mark the banner.

After doing this, you can then place the banner stand on the floor, and pull it out so that you can do a final check of the whole banner before you send it to the customer. Because if there are any marks or scuffs on the banner it would need a reprint.

When this has all been done, you then package it the same as you would a normal banner, this then gets sent to the customer by the courier.

Printer maintenance

Maintaining a printer is very important in a sign making company, we rely on the printers for nearly everything we do. They need to be cleaned at least once a month or it can create problems for the machine and the prints.
To clean the printers all you need is some maintenance fluid, ECO buds and paper towels.

This is what the inside of a printer looks like if you don't clean and maintain it at least once a month.

To clean the printer you soak the ECO buds in maintance fluid and dabs the part of the printer that needs cleaning, then leave this to soak so the ink will come of easier later on.

After leaving the fluid to soak in use some different ECO buds to rub away the access ink, you also have to rub the ECO bud in between the printer heads this is to get away access ink.
These are all the things you need to clean the printers
Maintenance fluid, ECO buds and blue roll or paper towels.
The ECO buds are used for applying the fluid to the printers, then the blue roll is used to wipe away any unwanted fluid and wiping away the ink of the printer. After doing this to the printer it should be clean and ready for using again.

Banner Finishing

Banner finishing is one of  my more regular duties in the work place.
The things i require are:
  • A good size work space
  • A snap off knife
  • A ruler
  • Banner tape
  • Roller
  • Eyelets
  • Eyelet press

The first thing i have to do, is cut the excess banner material away from the banner, i do this by placing the ruler at the end of the print to give me a 34mm hem, this is to give the banner edge strength for the eyelet.

After cutting the banner down, i flip it over face down so i can put banner tape down the 34mm hem. Then i would fold the hem backwards this gives the banner more strength for the eyelets. Then you would just run a roller down the edge putting on pressure.

Then depending on the size of the banner is where i would now eyelet the banner using a eyelet press and eyelets, unless the banner has special requirements i would do this every 2foot. This is so you can hang the banner in various places.

After doing these procedures this is what a finished banner should like, then all that is required is to pack the box where you put bagging over the banner this is for protection then to put it into a box to fit the banner size.

After boxing it you get the paper work for the banner you have just finished and send it to the warehouse and from here it is sent to the customer with a courier.

This is my first attempt at making a paper toy, I used a simple well known cartoon character design.

To make this I used:
